Dinosaur Hunt is not so much about finding dinosaurs as it is about using your imagination, and this is just one of the many reasons to love the newest offering from talented author/illustrator David Catrow. Max is a dog on a mission, scoping out his yard for “dinosaur bones”, and he finds a veritable treasure trove: a garden hose becomes a tail, a rake becomes a fearsome set of teeth, and before long a gangly creature is lurching about the yard! The words of the story are simple and well-spaced to aid beginning readers, but preschoolers will also enjoy the book for the hilarious illustrations. Look for more endearingly goofy adventures with Max in Catrow’s next book in the series
Funny Lunch, due out in May 2010.
