With school back in session in a couple of weeks, tired moms and university students alike will undoubtedly be looking for creative ways to fill lunch boxes. Last month, July 11th to be exact, marked the 50th anniversary of Harper Lee's seminal work of fiction, To Kill a Mockingbird. Although it is the only book ever written by Ms. Lee, it became an instant success the moment it was published in 1960. In the 50 years since then, the book has never been out of print. Librarians in the U.K.

Have you avoided joining a book club because you don't have time to read the book? Then the library's adult 'Books-Made-Into-Movies' program is for you!

This Fall, we will be offering feature films that are based on popular novels. Following each film's showing, there will be a brief discussion on how the film version differs from the book, and why stories from books are often better than their DVD counterparts.

Every once in a while, a book comes across your path that once read, changes you in some fundamental way. To me, this is the definition of a 'classic.'

Over the years, books such as Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies and To Kill a Mockingbird have all shaped who I am and how I see the world. Another one of those transformative gems to add to my list is Jeanne M. Peterson's debut novel Falling to Heaven.
