Talking Proud is a reference program at the Prince George Public Library based upon queries and stories from the public. The Library gathers reference questions and unusual facts in the course of its daily work, and we often find answers that are surprising or cause us a sense of pride about Prince George.

Since the Olympics are upon us, Talking Proud will concentrate on current/past Olympians and para-Olympians or Olympic stories that have a Prince George or “northern connection”. After all, it’s a matter of pride! After the Olympics, your Prince George Public Library will continue to gather unusual facts for our files, and will continue to provide you with the best in information about our community… so talk proud Prince George!

Know of any other Olympians from in and around Prince George? If so, tell us about them!

So send your Olympic stories, facts, trivia … anything that you believe “talks proud” about Prince George, its citizens, or its northern people. The library will gather this information, do some research and fact-checking, and make it available to all our citizens.

Send anything that you feel your library should have in its collections, that people should be aware of, or that you think makes us darn proud to be from Prince George and the North. After all, if we don’t talk proud about ourselves, who will? If we don’t know our own stories, who can tell them? And if we want pride in our region, then we need to gather together… your library is your information gathering place…
