Youth Advisory Board

Our Mission

  • To encourate teens to use the library
  • To assist local youth in accesing library materials
  • To adapt the library to suit community (especially youth)
  • To help humanize PGPL resources
  • To provide a youth perspective on literary and library needs
  • To be awesomely snazzy!

Who are we looking for?

  • Youth ages 13 - 18 years (or in grade 8)
  • A group of 6-10 youth who are interested in developing their leadership skills and who want to contribute to their community
  • Youth with all kinds of backgrounds and experiences
  • Time commitment is 4 - 8 hours per month

Why should you apply?

  • Leadership and volunteer experience

  • Have fun and meet new people

What will you do?

  • Help plan events
  • Provide input on library services, materials and activities
  • Promote the library

How can you apply?

  • Fill out an application form (PDF 21kb)
  • Deliver it to either branch of the public library
  • New YAB member recruitment usually happens in August of each year.

When?

  • The YAB usually meets once a month on a Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:45 pm, unless working on a project that requires more time.
